The Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has directed the Secretariat of sustainable development goals SDG’s under the office the Prime Minister to recognise Women leaders who mentored her into Leadership and other women leaders in the country. Nabbanja says if it wasn’t for those women leaders perhaps she would not be the first female prime minister of Uganda. She was this morning officiating a dialogue on Gender Equality under the theme, Count Her in: Accelerating Gender Equality through Women Economic Empowerment and Financing for Sustainable Development Goals

High court criminal division before judge Margret Mutonyi has sentenced a one IP Abura Emmanuel Wilson to 50 years imprisonment. Abura Emmanuel Wilson a police officer was found guilty of murdering a 9 years old Namawejje Patience in Natalya Housing Estate Kira Municipality Wakiso District.

The High Court in Jinja has restrained Sheikh Shaban Mubaje from calling himself the legitimate Mufti of Uganda. An argument raised by Counsel Erias Luyimbaazi Nalukoola, the  attention of Court was drawn to the orders that were directed by Hon Lady Justice Alexandra Nkonge Rugadya. The Acting Principal Judge on the 22nd December 2023 said Sheikh Mubaje had been already retired in Public interest by the General Assembly that sat on the16th / 17th December 2023 and subsequently His Eminence Sheikh Abdallah Ssemambo was sworn in by the UMSC General Assembly as the Acting Mufti of Uganda. Logically, this is the status quo that was ordered by Court.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to launch National HIV/ Self-testing kit on 9th-May 2024 at Kololo ceremonial grounds aimed at rolling out self-testing massive campaign in the Country. The Ministry of Health in partnership with Life Care Diagnostics Limited will Scaling up the Abbot HIV self testing kit - “The Check Now for HIV Epidemic control in Uganda The implementation of the program is focused at increasing knowledge of HIV status within People living HIV and Mitigating stigma associated with HIV Testing through simple and effective self testing kit.

President Yoweri Museveni has called on the Business community to support national development by embracing taxation and import substitution. This was at an open-air session on matters of taxation and trade with the business community at Kololo independence grounds. Responding to concerns raised by the traders representatives, President Museveni said the Electronic Fiscal Receipting system (EFRIS) is relevant in Government’s developmental aspirations since it achieves three important things and these are; ore tax collection, fair spread of tax and protects local factories.
